The building at Kimber Road Adventure Play Ground SW18 4NN

The photographs are an example of our work at Kimber Road for Wandsworth Borough Council.

R C Grant and Sons are qualified and approved installers for all Marley products and are on a register of certified installers for Marley Eternit materials and therefore were invited to tender for and successfully obtained the contract for this project.

The products we used were bought direct from Marley Eternit and because our sister company, the Fascia Place is an independent merchant, we can procure our materials in a far more cost effective and speedy way. The benefit of having own suppliers gives us the ability to provide any materials quickly and easily.

In this example, the main contractor built a concrete block box with roof, windows and shutters and then R.C.Grant and Sons put together the whole of the sub structure. This entailed building an aluminium frame work underneath, to which all the cleaned and prepared panels were independently glued. We also supplied and installed all the rainwater goods such as guttering and waste pipes. Again these were Marley Alutech products, in this case with raw aluminium downpipes.

What makes this building so special is that panels for the cladding and finish are all adhered(glued) panels, there’s  not a single mechanical fixing, that includes all the window reveals, the window heads and the architecturally designed pattern.

The architect had designed a specific layout which we followed exactly and although the panels were small, our ability to install the cladding without any visible screws or fittings demonstrated that practical, everyday materials can be used as a design feature.

R.C.Grant and Sons are particularly proud of this project, at the time it was a completely new challenge, and it was produced successfully, on budget and within time frames. In this case it took six weeks to complete the assignment.  Many compliments have been received about the visually stunning effect of the completed work and over six months later, this building still remains attractive and unspoiled, despite its daily use as part of a specially constructed play area.
